You can hear my coming

So I have this fabulous pair of shoes but the most bizarre thing is they squeak.  Actually, that is not the most bizarre thing …

How fab are they not!!

So a couple of months ago the left shoe started squeaking and it used to drive my co-workers crazy every time I walked to the elevators or the coffee machine or the toilets.

Then came the snow and the ice and I stopped wearing them … I’m not willing to risk a broken ankle just cause I insisted on wearing inappropriate high heeled shoes.

Last week we had a dry, ice free day so I put them on again and voila, no squeak … made me wonder if it was because of the couple of kilos that I lost.

But no, yesterday I wore them and again, and the squeak was back … only now it is the right shoe!

Either I picked up weight, on the right side of my body over the weekend (quite possible that I picked up weight, not so sure of it only being on the one side of my body though) or I just have the strangest shoes eva!

Okay I guess the fact that I’ve blogged about these shoes twice now is also a bit strange … but hey, I’m a shoe loving girl.

Spring is in the air

I don’t think so! We had another 10 cm / 3.9 inches of snow on Saturday night! The temperature has been hanging around -4 ºC / 26 º F during the day and -11º C / 12 º F at night so no; spring is most definitely NOT in the air!!   To add insult to injury I spoke to my mother-in-law who was saying, oh they can start to feel a nip in their air in the mornings and evenings, autumn is on it’s way (they live in South Africa) … when I ask her what the temperature is she says: about 30 ºC / 86 ºF … yeah they really have something to complain about !

Okay, deep breath, I’ll stop ranting about the weather now.

We didn’t do much this weekend, just the usual laundry (and this was me, not we) and Tiger had a football game, in the snow! I have no idea why they didn’t cancel the game. They got slaughtered 11/01! The other team played a rather dirty game, pushing and shoving so Tiger is covered in bruises.  Cat had swimming on Saturday night and then after feeding everyone etc I fell asleep in the bath. Luckily I didn’t drop my book in the water.

Cat had scouts on Sunday afternoon and while she was there Tiger & I went to visit my mom. She is doing really well. I can’t believe how mobile she is after this hip replacement compared to the previous one she had in 2005.

And that is about all we did this weekend.  I’ve been warned by the man that he has a hectic schedule lined-up for the next two week or so including a possible trip to Turkey and Nigeria. On top of that the kids will be off school for their Easter vacation as of Friday.  Plus, it is still crazy at work. I get to take about 15 minute lunch break at the moment … so it is go go go!

I hope you had a more fun filled weekend! I’m going to try and find the time to hop around and read all about it… until then! Cheers! Have a great week!

Monday Monday ....

I don’t know what I did on Friday I somehow I didn’t  publish my post … so I’ll have two posts for today.

Shall just blame it on being blond J

So how was your weekend? Mine was productive. I actually got around to sorting out both of the kids clothes. ½ of it going to goodwill or cousins in South Africa (my dad is leaving for South Africa tomorrow evening) and the other ½ going into the bin since they are just too stained or worn.

On Sunday, despite the gloomy weather the kids and I took a drive into town for the Paddy’s day activities being held in one of the big parks in Brussels (Cinquantenaire). We met up with some other friends and while Tiger was playing a pick-up game of Gaelic football while us ladies walked around chatting while at the same time keeping an eye on the rest of the kids running around.

At about 3:30 the weather was starting to turn quite miserable and a few lost drops starting falling down so we decided to make a quick stop off at the hospital to see my mom before going back home. The kids were very happy to see her since she had a huge bag of Easter eggs. Yeah, clearly they love their grandmother a lot.

And here we are…

End of the week randomness

Even though this has been a really short work week (3 days only) I’m still glad that it is weekend.  Hopefully we have now seen the last of the snow (we has some more this morning) and that spring is on its way. I can so do with a change of clothing!  Don’t you find that you get tired of wearing winter clothes?

My poor mom is in hospital, she had her second hip replacement done. She is feeling okay but it is still too early to tell if this one is going to be better than the last one. She is meant to leave the hospital on Tuesday.  Only down side is that my dad is leaving on Tuesday. He booked and paid for a trip to South Africa before they knew about her hip replacement. So she’ll be home alone. I might go and stay with her to help out but it looks like Himself will be gone for 2 weeks so we’ll have to play it by ear. Luckily her dr. said that she’ll walking by Tuesday, fingers crossed this is the case.

Speaking of Himself, he bought Cat some shoes yesterday. This morning as she was putting them own I thought to myself, those shoes are massive, I’m sure they’ll fit me …True’s Bob! They did! Okay, seriously someone hand me a brick to put on this kid’s head. She is getting way too big! 10½ and already she has shoes that fit me! And she steals my hoodies all the time! When did this happen? When did my baby girl get this big?

My mom measured them last weekend, she has grown 7 cm / 2.75 inches since the end of August!  Not only is she getting taller she is also becoming so big and responsible.

Last week she told me that she no longer wanted me to wake her up in the mornings cause she was going to set her alarm and get up by herself.  Now this child of mine is so not a morning person. Getting her up and dressed is time consuming and frustrating. So I had some serious doubt.

Man was I wrong. She gets up the moment her alarm rings. She wakes up Tiger and before I make it to the kitchen they are in there, dressed, hair done, having breakfast. I know, it’s crazy!

She also made scones, all by herself, on Tuesday. Okay, we had the recipe with us and told her step by step what to do but she did it. All I had to do was roll out the dough and pop it in the oven.

While all of this makes me so proud I’m also a little sad, she really is not my little girl anymore.
She is my big girl now.

New hairstyle

I'm crazy busy at work and since I have next Monday off (trying to spend as much time with our friends as possible) I'm under even more pressure to get everything done.

But, I did manage to take a very bad picture of myself this morning to show you my hair .....

Weekend roundup

Monday, yay!

I know sounds crazy but it’s because a very good friend of mine and her husband will be here on the weekend. It’s been way too long since I last saw them (March 2009) so I can’t wait. (okay, they are not only my friends they are our friends, but you know how it is).

How was your weekend though?  Ours was good. Cat had scouts camp so it was just Tiger at home.  He made the most of it. On Friday night he fell asleep in the bed with me. When Himself got home (in the early hours) he just moved him over and got into bed. Good thing the boy is still small enough to fit in the bed with us.

I finally made to the hairdressers by getting up just before 8 – I’m sporting a white mohawk now.  Tiger & I went to Ikea, bowling and mini golfing before ending the day at MacDonald’s. He loved some 1-on-1 time with his mom. And so did I.

Once Cat was back at home it was back to normal with lots of laundry and cleaning to do … I want to make sure it is all sorted before the weekend since I will not have time to do any of it.  Have to make the most of the couple of hours we have to spend with Nial & Dette.

Right, that’s my weekend in a nutshell, now it’s back to work, at work.

Hope you have a super Monday!
